NRP, part of LPL Financial, is a respected leader in the retirement plan industry. Built by advisors for advisors, LPL Financial is dedicated to building the largest network of independent advisors who deliver superior products and services to retirement plan sponsors and participants, and comprehensive financial services to high net worth individuals. LPL Financial member firms provide advisory services for over 6,000 retirement plans, through over 150 member offices nationwide.

LPL Financial wanted to create a custom framework for their member firms and a central database where individual companies in the LPL Financial network would be able to manage their data privately, but still have access to a consistent set of tools and controls. Ultimately, LPL Financial wanted to create a single destination where their independent members could manage their financial plans and see all of LPL Financial's tracked funds and ratings.

The complexity of the security model and customization necessary for such a solution led LPL Financial to hiSoft. hiSoft's experience with a wide variety of member-based organizations made a natural fit.

Challenge

LPL Financial needed a central database and toolset, divided by security controls into nodes accessible only by individual companies. Document management was critical, as well as the ability to sign on once to CRM and use that login to access other LPL Financial tools.

Solution
  • hiSoft created a hierarchical security model in Salesforce.com that worked with LPL Financial's access needs. All members were able to access common data storage areas, with private individual areas. To avoid Salesforce.com's storage limits, hiSoft created a custom document storage area.
  • hiSoft integrated with Pervasive to provide fund scoring across the enterprise and provide quick links within Salesforce.com to information from LPL Financial's proprietary database.
Results
  • Individual LPL Financial member firms now have a common set of tools and ratings to work with.
  • LPL Financial members can now use one login to access CRM and proprietary data, with links between the two.
  • Member firms can now manage their clients' financial plans all within one private area, instead of using disparate databases.
